In East Prairie, as students pass by, you don't really know who's been having trouble keeping their confidence. Even with the teachers and parents encouraging the students, some of the students just don't get the boost of confidence from them. With all the students in the school, there aren't enough teachers and staff to stop the cause of the students confidence from dropping. What is making the confidence levels in some students dwindle? Maybe it's declining because some students tease or mess with the other students. It's like 9/11 with all the confusion and chaos teasing/bullying brings. One student in particular had had experienced this teasing and bullying. He answered our questions and he feels upset when others tease or mess around with him. When other students are treated this way, the students just standby. Even when the students care, they hold back from saying or doing anything to help. For some reason the students over think the whole scenario or it's something else that's holding them back. All students should be able to stand up for themselves and others, like Katniss Everdeen. The student I interviewed also said that he feels upset when others are treated this way. There are so many different reasons why students hold back there thoughts and feelings about others teasing and messing around with other students. No one knows for sure when all teasing/bullying will just disappear from the world. I really wonder why the students hold back? How can this be helped? I hope someday this problem will be resolved.
Picture this; A beautiful park with a bunch of people, a bunch of green growing things, and some bullies. Those bullies were antagonizing someone. The bullies were like Goliath, strong, and just as mean. But that one kid had enough so, he went to that group of bullies and started making them angry. That's when they started a fight. The fight was like a wrestling match, the way it went down. Few joined in but most just looked away. Some seemed to think that it was just wrong to settle it like this, while others said it was alright. But at end of this so-called melee the bullies had lost. The bullies weren't happy, although they didn't do it again.
people hate parcc testing. some people like we take it on the computer.some people had trouble taking the test.everyone had to take the test twice.people got kicked of the test while taking it.every ones schedules were messed up during the test.the classes were messed up.some peoples grades were lower cause they missed homework in classes.people did not like how long it was.some people think each grade should take it at the same time so people don't miss class.a lot of the people had trouble with the quistions on the test.parcc relates to a game called ark survivel it hard and confusing at first.
While you're growing and personality changing, fitting in can be hard. A 13 year old says, they get made fun of all the time. Between school, family, sports and friends, teens become very busy with too much on their plate and mind. They do not need to be worrying about what everyone thinks of them too. Some think that it's just jokes, but others take it personally and get hurt. Another 13 year old says, she has a lower self-esteem than some. She has been judged based on her looks, doesn't help her outlook on herself. Do not be deceived by a person's appearance or attitude. It's not easy to love your body, but it doesn't help when others are making nasty comments towards you. People saying things behind your back hurts like finding out there's a page in a burn book about you, like in Mean Girls. Body image and self-esteem are closely related. One girl said, she sometimes compares herself to others. Many boys and girls are basing themselves off "the popular kids", celebrities, and just people around them. Everyone is comparing themselves and judging others. Emotions are too many built up feelings that teens deal with way to often and don't tell anyone until they hit their breaking point, like many Carrie Underwood songs. Why do teens feel the need to match themselves up with one another? Is all this judging necessary? How would you help stop it?
School is a place were students come to learn. But more than that just happens. People can not accept each others differences, so they decide to bully each other. Bullying is like 9-11, people had problems with each other so they decided to fight. One day, at East Prairie Middle School, there was a fight. This fight consisted of two teens. They don't like each other and it all went down hill from there. This is all because teens can't get along with each other. Bullying is like a rock. Nothing happens when you do it. Teens often get bullied for varies reasons. Some seem to think that bullying is self defense, but others think it is just plain rude. Bullying needs to stop. Some say that we should do whatever it takes to stop bullying. what can we do to stop it? What can we do to help the victims?
People get bullied everyday! Why? Teen and tweens use hurtful words and actions towards others to make themselves " look cool" in front of there friends. These actions are disgraceful and needs to stop. One afternoon during school at East Prairie, a girl was eating her lunch. All of her friends where sitting around her when someone comes up and starts bullying her. At first is seemed that the girl was just talking to a lot of people, but then I realized that she was crying. A person from Tuscola had said that it is wrong to bully, and it can hurt peoples feelings. The girl needs to be like Katniss, and needs to stick up for her self. The girl sitting at lunch was very sad and disappointed. This is a issue that needs to stop at East Prairie. Some people don't like roller coasters at Disney World like I don't like when people get bullied. Going around and making people feel bad about themselves is not good. A lady had said that if a student was getting bullied, he or she should walk away and go tell a parent or teacher. Bullying goes around everywhere. Bullying should stop! It is never nice to make someone feel bad about themselves or how they look!
It was a warm day in East Prairie middle school. Sometime in the afternoon an unnamed criminal walked around the lunchroom. On that day the lunch ladies passed out apple juice. The unnamed man walked around the lunchroom asking people for their juice. An eye witness said that they thought that it wold be a bad idea for him to drink all that apple juice. He drank that apple Juice like a monkey eating a banana. It was almost time for 6th hour. Nobody saw this event coming. The criminal sat in the front left corner of the room. to the right of hi,m was his innocent victim. The victim was like a greaser in the book, The Outsiders, and the criminal was like the socials. About ten minutes into the class period the criminal quickly and decisively turned to his right and got sick all over the floor, some on the floor some on books and some on his victim. the criminal had to clean up the mess but now the victim is scarred for life like the victims that experienced 9/11 are scarred for life.
Social media is a huge problem at schools today. Kids are always on there phones. I asked Nick Williams do you use your phone at school? He replied yes all the time. Teens are never paying attention. A big problem is kids using there phones and cheating on tests. They send each other answers and cheat. Another problem is that kids bully with social media and hurt kids. Kids have killed them selves over cyber bullying. Social media is terrible just like 9/11. Nick Williams said that kids get cyber bullied all the time. But aside from the problems teachers have with phones. Teachers use there phones t school and still say that kids shouldn't have phones at school. All social media and phones cause is problems for schools. Schools could band the use of phones and should. Because all they cause are problems for there schools. Picture this a life at school with no phones.
An issue that matters to me is bullying. It is in at least every school. Its kinda like harry potter because in harry potter a lot of people are mean to Harry. Bullying is really bad in America. Kids get bullied because he doesn't wear name brand clothes or shoes. Its like this certain person was getting bullied at lunch. Why because She doesn't wear named brand clothes or shirt or that she doesn't have that much. Some kids laugh at people getting bully or just do it and thinks its all a joke but they don't know how the victim feels Its just like if you were being bullied. Maybe its because you don't have named brand stuff to wear. Maybe its because You don't have a smart phone or a lot of money to spend. Its really not fun to get bullied some people commit suicide over it or cause self harm. why would someone try to bully one of there class mates. It is very sad to see someone with cuts on there arms or see them get bullied. Some people might bully but wont know they are. Like they might be messing around with that person but they might actually take it seriously so watch who you mess around with Would you be that person that will stick up for people that get bullied or stick up to the bully that has been bullying you. I hope bullying can stop. It is just not cool so never bully someone If you don't want to be bullied. I hope we can also vanish bullying in Tuscola schools or bullying on football teams or any sports for that matter. Do you step up and help out with bullying or do u stand and watch.
It was just another day at EP during class. The students doing their homework like usual. Although, one individual had their phone under their desk doing who knows what. All the kids were distracted from the certain individual from their phone. It was like Mrs. Logan's class when Gibby said theirs a mouse and everybody was distracted. The students wasn't going to stop texting and distracting the students just like Gibby when he saw the mouse. at first it seemed the individual was going to stop, but then she kept on distracting kids from their homework. One student said the kids should be able to have phones in class if they are going to follow directions. The other students wouldn't be distracted if they had their own phone. Others like teachers won't want students to have phones because they might be looking on social media instead. Several kids say they would like to have phones during class, but it's hard to tell if they will follow directions. A students also said if they are done with their homework they should be able to listen to their own music quietly. If you saw a student doing something wrong on their phone what would you do was one of the questions .Their response was they would tell the teacher, but that might take away their privlages though. Would you be the student who follows the directions or not?
It was just another day at east prairie middle school....when I hear a buzzzzzzz. I look around and see that one of my friends has his phone and is texting I thought to myself and thought this is just like the outsiders because...the students are the socs and the greasers are teachers trying to stop the students from cheating on tests. I thought to myself again. how are the teachers gonna stop this? My friend Ben Tizzei says "the teachers should just ban phones from school," I agree with ben because a lot of problems would stop if we just took phonesx out of the picture. When this happens please stand u[p and do something.
Teens these days are so negative to each other. They say mean things and talk bad about one another. A lot of people can relate to this. A lot of times people talk bad about themselves and call them self fat or ugly. In the movie Bring It On it talks about how one of the cheerleaders calls her self this stuff. All her friends tried telling her she wasn't but she still thought she was. You hear these things from girls more often then guys. Every once in awhile you will hear stuff from guys too but you mainly hear it from girls. When people say this stuff is it because they want attention? Or maybe there home life is not the best so they are really negative. A big one is maybe other kids talk bad about them.. This is close to the same as Mean Girls. A group of girls called the plastics always talked and made fun of others. In result they always thought bad about them self and compared there self to the group of girls. Some even changed there style in close and who they hung out with. No on knows for sure what anyone's home life is or what most people call "their story." One of the students at East Prairie said "A lot of students just sit back and watch. They don't step in and say anything." When something mean or negative is being said to someone you don't have to be mean, you just say hey you should not say that. You should always watch what you say. Just because you don't say something that you think will not hurt others a lot of the time it does. If you were in this situation how do you think you would feel? Would you step in? How would you act?
What is being a drop out, being a drop out means you dropped out of school to start your adult life with out graduating high school with out a diploma. It is like how most of the greasers from the Outsiders dropped out of school to liver there lives as adults. A former Tuscola high school drop out said that he wishes he had stayed in school and got his diploma. When teens drop out of school they miss some of the skills that they need to become successful in life. Just think about it have you ever hear of some one doing well in life with out a diploma. when you don't graduate you wont be able to get a good enough job to live off of. the same drop out as before works at a gas station and hardly makes enough money to live off of. so if your thinking of dropping out school you might want to rethink that.
It was around 7:00 at night when the teen was still doing his homework. They sat in the dinning room wondering why he was working on his homework so late. Then it hit him, no study halls. Study halls is an issue because not every student has one. After the new schedule change at East Prairie, some students don't have a study hall. The importance of study halls is like Harry Potter and his wand. Without it, he wouldn't know what to do and would most likely have to get a new one or make time to get a new one. One of the current students at the school said they take "a long time" to do their homework. No wonder, it's because some don't have a study hall. These teens are only allowed to one extra curricular, if they don't want to skip out another class hour. A child cant get her homework done during class and is forced to take it home everyday. Sometimes this may result in rushing through it to get done or forgetting things for class at home. The same child from earlier said "all I do after school is homework." Another student, who has a study hall, takes their time and does it well, having straight A's and one B. These students are the Outsiders, and the homework is the Socials. The Outsiders are trying to defeat the homework but the Socials are running away until finally, near the end of the night, they will fight. Occasionally, the students with study hall, will have extra time to read and usually finish their book project and assignments early, sometimes even on time. With this new change to these teens study hall arrangements, it is resulting in no extra fun and not being able to live normal lives because of all the homework. From a teacher's point of view, is seems to not matter. As long as the student gets the homework done it well all right. To students though, it is crucial. The result of study halls is they students more time to work, complete, and get better grades. Hopefully soon, we can change it into before, where there was time at school to complete assignments.
Today's society has been telling girls that they can't be themselves. They have to change how they look to fit in. People have said they don't feel safe without make-up because they are afraid they will get bullied. Nobody should have to feel that way. What's been happening a lot more often over the years is people being more self concious about what they look like. It's like the Outsiders. In order to fit in they have to do what everybody else does even if it doesn't make them happy. Girls nowadays are changing what they look like with make-up and other things. A girl at the age of 16 got made fun of at her school. She felt like she needed to change her look. She thought the best way of changing was with make-up. A student at East Prairie Middle School said she felt like she needs to wear make-up to feel good about herself. A lot of teenagers feel the need to change how they look. She also stated that she has been bullied because of how she looks and it made her think less of herself. Nemo wanted to fit in and be a part of something like school. That is how people feel so they try to change so they can fit in. People compare themselves to other people or celebrities. They try to look as pretty or as handsome as they are. But in all honesty, everybody is beautiful and nobody should make fun of one another no matter what the situation is. To some people being you, wearing no make-up, is enough. And it should always be enough! Students say people shouldn't change how they look with make-up because they are beautiful no matter what! Some seem to think people should do whatever makes them feel comfotable but others say people shouldn't be afraid to go out without make-up. So why do students try to change their look? They're Beautiful too!
It was like 9/11, she was collapsed down when he called her names, but was built back up. One day during the 7th and 8th grade chorus, a girl had noticed a boy being picked on by another boy. He got really upset because everybody started to laugh, point fingers, and call him names. Have you ever been bullied? One student replied " Yes I have, it doesn't fell good. Some would chose to stand up for them, others would be bystanders. One girl decided to take action. Once she started to help, she was getting picked on. Most students at East Prairie have been called names. The others are the ones calling people the names. Who would do that? Why would someone do that? Bullying people is awful. There are many forms of bullying. Physical, Verbal, and cyber. Don't bully, not only is it mean, it can also cost somebody their life.
Like the Tragic 9/11 when heroes retook over the plane and wrecked it in a field, their are not very many heroes who stop teens from cutting. Teenagers- Many of you girls like to cut. It doesn't matter how bad a situation is. Events like these could lead to the conclusion why kids do suicide. So on a hot September day in Tuscola, Illinois there was a girl who thought she had a terrible self image because she was always bullied, so she was lonely. It was the 5th week of school. Almost everywhere she went she was made fun of her appearance. Her mom would pick her up and ask her how her day was. She would cry and go to her room. She would lock herself in there until night. Do you think this could lead to major depression? One girl said, "I think it could and it is not very good for someone not o have friends and be bullied." The next day the girl came and found out there are new girls coming to school. She finds they are a lot alike. They are bullied and think they have bad self appearance so they tell her when she locks herself in her room she should cut like they do. Many teens cut because of bullying. Is there ever a situation to harm yourself? Another person said, "there is never a situation bad enough to harm yourself." So she would do what they said. Soon she got into a Daily routine. Could this lead to death? Why do they cut?Teens think it is required to punish themselves. Picture this a teen may think they deserve it but the blade doesn't. Our society has become very negative.
People have noticed that teens face many challenges . Throughout their lives one challenge in particular is bullying. One day at recess there was a girl sitting in the corner crying about getting bullied. This is an issue that needs to be stopped. It was just a normal day during recess at East Prairie Middle School for most teens. Almost all the kids were playing games, socializing, or doing something to have fun, One girl was sitting in the corner crying about people being mean to her. Imagine if you were the girl sitting in the corner crying. No one will be nice to you or be your friend. How would you approach the bully? Hopefully you would be strong like Katniss. The girl needed to be brave like Katniss and stick up for her self. This is one of many ways teens get bullied. The perdicerment teens get put in is similar to a situation such as, "Some people are terrified or have a fear of spiders like teens are terrified or have a fear of getting bullied. A citizen in the community said that, "Harassment or bullying can cause low self-esteem, suicide, permanent mental damage, health disorders, and anger issues." The citizen also said, "People usually bully others to make themselves feel better. They usually pick on others about clothing, lifestyle, body image, and personal reasons." it is sad that teens have to face these challenges in their daily lives. Bullying is a serious condition that teens do not deserve or need to get. All teens need to understand everyone is equal and shall be included. Some questions to take into consideration are, Have you ever been bullied? Hoe did you feel about it? What would you do to stop bullying?
Peer pressure. What is it? It is when someone is being told to do something they don't want to do. It is sometimes considered a type of bullying. Peer pressure is a big issue with teen from the age of 14 to 18. This isn't as big of an issue as bullying is but it's still a pretty big one. A lot of the time its older teens telling each other to do drugs or drink alcohol, but there are many other things to be pressured into doing. For example a younger teen was being pressured into kissing her boyfriend by her friends, if friends will do it then anyone will. The younger teens don't have to deal with the drugs and alcohol but they definitely have to deal with relationship pressure. A witness of this states that people do what they are pressured to do just to fit in. This is true in many cases Sometimes friends threaten to never hang out with that person again if they don't do it. They even are sometimes called names like chicken, loser, and fake. It's hard to think that people would be so cruel over something so dumb.If only there was no such thing as peer pressure and bullying. Wouldn't the world just be so perfect?
Imagine, a peaceful afternoon out at recess, everyone smiling and laughing. But then..... there is anger and footballs being thrown at each other. People getting hurt then going into a pit of rage. The anger trapped inside teenagers is going to cause a lot of pain. It was a normal day at East Prairie Middle School at first. Some kids were socializing and others were doing normal recess activities. Like football, basketball, volleyball, and swinging. Some boys were playing football. It was friendly at first, until one boy got picked on. We can only imagine what leads kids to bullying. The boy that was picked on was not so popular, other kids would sometimes be rude to him. One of the boys that was also playing football decided to throw the ball with a vicious force at the not so popular kid. At first it seemed like an accident. After it hit him he got really angry at the boy. I asked what he was was mad about and he said "I was mad at him for hitting me with the ball." The angry boy picked up the football, his face red with anger, and chucked it very hard at the boy that had thrown it at him. That's when a teacher noticed what was going on. The teacher made both of the boys sit down for the rest of the recess. I asked the not so popular boy that got hit with the ball first if he would have stopped it if it were two other kids doing it? "Yes, I would have stopped it." was his response. How will we be able to get teens to stop these anger lash outs?
Picture this it was just another regular day. There was a teen down N Niles and another teen saw spotted something different about her. She had her mouth close up to her ear. The teen thought to herself, there are a lot of people who would probably go up to her and say what's up with your face? The teen knew she probably shouldn't say anything mean. But the teen just kept walking, but then she heard a cry out for help. That girl with the disfigurement was getting beat up. so she rushed over there to check out the girl. I asked the girl and they said "She deserves it. She is ugly"!
East prairie 7 and 8th graders are using there phones too much in and out of school. They are depending on them to much. Students sneak time in there phones like eating a candy bar when mom said no. One student said, they are texting and looking stuff up and being to dependent. half the people think it is bad that they go into the bathroom just to use them.Kids on there phones is like neon in the matrix going into a different world. kids in school are constantly on there phones texting and using there apps. The good thing is that the people that got interviewed don't use there phones in class. One person would tell the teacher and the others would not do anything. This is what 3 8th graders say about this situation. We can only imagine kids not using there phones in class.
A jock is on a bus with a group of kids and is talking to his friends the he notices something out of the corner of his eye. It's a tall acronym kid who speaks with a lisp and is super smart. The kid is the top of his class in everything but p.e. As the jock notices him he gets up and starts to make fun of him hits, hits him, and stabs him with a pencil. Has this seen happen to you or has happened to someone you know? This is something that goes around every school in the country. The kids that are being picked on don't have the self of steam to tell on them and if they do they just get picked on more. I asked some one if they have been picked and if they have what did they? "Yes, have been picked on before. He called me fat and I have been hit by him before" if it happens here then it happens every where else. Say this the bully is liked by a lot of people and you try to tell the teacher. Well then the teacher won't believe you because they like that student. This should not go on at any school. These kids do not deserve this. Then there the cyber bullying issue teachers can't do any thing because you don't have a school that's online. If you tell a teacher will say that they can't do anything about it. The bullying needs to stop.
Hello East Prairie students, we have found out many phones have been being used in classes. Some for non-school purposes and some for school purposes. Some of the teachers think it is non-school related, others think they are using them to help with school work. It's just like the Greasers and Socials. We are having problems with teachers arguing, and students getting mad at teachers. We will be holding a board meeting for this incident.
Not all students use phones to look at social media or things like that. Sometimes kids need that extra help to get done with the very hard questions, or to study for the big test the next day. Some kids witness them playing on their phones; others, saw them using a calculator. Will students ever be able to use their phones? do students use them for good purposes?
Where at east prairie middle shool at 8:01 P.M. We were going to start class when it was interrupted by a bully. He was so loud and rude that the teacher yelled at him.then the bully chucked a pencil at the teachers face. Bullying is something that happens more at school then home. Bully's can range big,Burly, skinny and slim. It depends if the bully hurts you physically or mentally. Usually they make fun of you because you are an easy target. I asked som people what they think bullying means. Some people say it means to hurt feelings and others say to make you feel bad. Bully's sometimes usually try to make you committee suicide unintentionally. Some bully's may hurt you for fun. Bully's are usually have house problems or anger issues. Some people ar worse about bullying for instance jocks, jocks are usually considered bully's because they think their the cool kids. Why do people be one bully's there are a bunch of theory's.
Kids are always complaining about how they only get 1 study hall. They yell like Coach Romine. They used to have 2 study halls in the 2014-2015 school year. Most kids play football after school and have to stay up all night to work on their homework. Some teachers give their students time in class to work on their homework and some still don't get it done. Some parents even do their homework for them. One student said ''Sometimes I don't get all my home done and I need to do it in the gym in the morning". Do you think your kids\kid should get another study hall?
Walking around town, down the hallway, or even outside at recess you will always be around bullying. Bullying happens every minute of everyday. You may not always know it, but you are always around people who only have hurtful things to say. Its kind of like in the mid 1900's when whites and blacks didn't get along. The whites were bullying the blacks, and the blacks had to deal with it everyday. "It makes me sad to see people get bullied, it can really hurt someones self esteem." an East Prairie student said. Even if you are joking around with your friends, someone could take it the wrong way. Students everywhere deal with being made fun of. Students that bully each other are like the terrorists that bombed the Twin Towers on 9/11. They want you to feel their pain like the terrorists wanted us to feel theirs. Some kids may be scared to come to school after being embarrassed in front of their friends/classmates. "Everyone should just be nice to each other!" the same East Prairie student said. Kids with bad home lives can become bullies. Sometimes if a kid has a lot going on, they push their pain onto others. Kids are strong, brave, and tough, like Katniss from the Hunger Games, but if you put too much pressure on them they will crack. Everyone can be a victim of bullying. Will it ever stop?
Students have been complaining a lot about how we only get one study hall. This has been causing some more late work from the students this year. There has also been more homework assigned. So is it the study hall or the homework?
Most of the students of East Prairie have been shortened to only one study hall or if any.just like the book "The Red Pyramid" something has completely changed. This has caused students to not be able to get their homework done; however, because of this change students have been given more class time to get their home work done. One student of East Prairie says that " It's a little bit harder for me to get my homework done since this change." The students that are in band and chorus not only don't have study halls but don't even have P.E.! Even though the students have a study hall it is in the middle of the day, and you only have that class to work on it if it is after that class. This may not be the Civil War but some people have different opinions. If you walk around the school and asked the students about if it is a good idea you will likely get an answer of, no. Some might says, yes but what do you say?
Its another hot, miserable day at East Prarie Junior High. Students are walking around in 90 degree heat. But they alos don't have air conditioning. So even though it'd 90 degrees, they are forced to go to school. They go to class, and it's so hot they can't even focus. Isn't this affecting their learning? The students keep hoping that they will get out of school early. Kids are complaining that they don't feel good, it's probably because they had milk with their lunch. "That and the heat aren't a good thing" says Courtney Rich. All of the teachers have all of their fans on, but it barely helps. They don't have air conditioning, because it costs so much, but it might be more likely if they weren't spending it on less neccesary things, such as paint, and new windows. Students are miserable in the heat, and they would gladly help fundraise, to help earn money to pay for the air conditioning. The students keep going, and doing their best to stay cool, like Adam Levine. Why do they even have school, when it's this hot? Isn't this affecting their learning? It's definitly affecting their behavior. Because of this, they have to fight the heat, like Katniss in the arena.
Thar are kids complaining on how much food gets served at the school lunch. That they are not getting full on what is binge served. That that mite be the risen that kids are binge distracted. That not getting that much food to keep them full. That that mite get bad grades they are thinking about food and not home work or class work. Also kids don't like the food that is being served at the school lunch. That if we cold get beater named food.
Normally at East Prairie Middle School the students get two study halls. This year they only get one. They did this because they needed more time for classes. This is more crazy then Disney Land on opening day. Some East Prairie kinds don't like the change. "It sucks," says one of the East Prairie students. I guess they like this much change as much as kids like vegetables. A lot of other students are complaining about how much homework they have to take home. Others say that they do sports and other activities and when they finally get home they have to do homework. It's just like Harry Potter after he gets done with the game he played. Some kids have a 5th hour study hall, so if they have afternoon classes then they will have homework. "I always bring home homework," says another student. They really must have a lot of homework.
You're having such a great summer. It is going so well that you feel like Billy Maddison chilling by the pool. Even though it is awesome you're getting a little bored with it.The 2015-2016 school year is approaching fast. To be honest you're getting a little excited! So you go online after you hear that schedules have been posted. When you get there you see something a little different...you only have 9 hours instead of 10.
An East Prairie hornet answers some questions on this matter. Were you mad when this change was made? "Yes! I like to be able to see my friends in study hall and not take home homework at night." Was this a fair change? "No!" This East Prairie student was obviously not happy with the change! They were as flaming mad as Anger from Inside Out. Not only does this change give us 9 hours instead of 10 and give us longer classes it takes away some peoples second study hall. "You don't have as many study halls now and i'm giving you time to use it now,so use it!" Mrs.Logan was caught telling her students 7th hour. Over the summer the school got a lot of complaints. They were mostly from parents of children in sports because it puts a strain on them.No one knows for sure but the school board might change this. Will this change? Will students adjust to this change?
Local students in the small town of Tuscola, Illinois, are getting quite angry at the school board. The students are getting angry because teens can't have their phones in school. But highschoolers can? One of the students known as Nick Williams gave me information on why they should, he said "we need to have are phones during study halls or classes when we get free time, because without anything to do it gets super boring we just sit in are chairs dozing off." This is a reason students in various schools particularly middle schools should have their phones. Students tell me that there so bored they are about to go to sleep!! That's not good for education at all. Students also say that they feel like school would be better if we could have are phones. The kids could use apps "maybe" games to help get there minds of things like bullying. Think about it school could finally be fun for children to come too. School and boredom should not go together, some teachers might say. Students can only imagine what school would be like with phones. Will this ever happen?
Some people I know were bullied like I was. Every time I move I am always bullied. because i was different from everyone else. Some people bully other people to make themselves feel better. Some people are also bullied for their speech problems, looks, differences, not being popular, lived in a Mexican neighborhood, only white person on the block, had braces, shortness, etc. They were bullied for so many reasons. We can resolve the bullying problem by stopping racism, stop putting people down because they are different then what you expect them to look like, leave it alone because it will never stop, calmly confront the bully, tell a teacher, tell an adult of some authority, talk to your parents, etc. We would all love to resolve this bullying problem. Most kids were bullied half their life's. K-7th grade is when kids are bullied at a park, on the school bus, etc. People think bullies bully other people because they are Jealous, mad trouble at home, not enough attention, don't know how to express there feelings, they have been bullied themselves, low self of steem,m to make themselves feel better,to become popular, etc. That is what bullies do. They do this for many reasons, but their is no reason to bully anyone, anywhere at anytime.
Well, if you were to ask student of East Prairie Middle school what would be one of their man concerns at East Prairie, they would probably say "looks." Because looks are a way bigger issue of East Prairie than one may think. As sad as it may sound, looks are a big part of being an 8th grade teen attending East Prairie. Even though some will say "not really" it is a big issue we have to face.
When a student was asked how they felt about the issue, and if they thought it was a big deal. They responded by saying,
"I think it is good to feel confident about the way you look. But you shouldn't be too concerned." Do you think this person was right when asked her opinion? Or do you think that this is something that is way deeper?
Well when another student who has been dealing with severe bullying(including be bullied by look)was asked if it really hurt how others would treat her she said "yes."
See, an unhealthy anxiety comes upon students who are concerned about how others view them. It's also so harsh how students view themselves! You would of think they had just been called ugly on "America's Next Top Model." This might not be "The Bachlorette" but students acted like students liking other students, was a competition.
There was one student who got majorly bullied at East Prairie. She is called mean names, and gets made fun of. It makes her feel really bad and insecure. As it was mentioned before, looks ARE a big issue.
But even though there will always be people who will judge, and be mean and discouraging. You have to stay positive and learn that true beauty does not come from body image, or how attractive you look. It comes from with in.
It is after school and your child comes home in tears. It is just heart breaking, right? Why would someone bully a peer? It was tenth period at East Prairie Middle school, about the middle of art class. When, a student started to get bullied in class. When you notice something shocking like this, do you stand up and help or stand back and watch? One student said "Yes, I would help out anyone who is getting bullied." Another said, "No, I wouldn't know how to handle the situation." The student who was bullying the student, was calling him names and telling him to go away. Until the point where the student was in tears. What would you have done with you saw a young child crying? A student at East Prairie said, “I would help him, try to be his friend, and ask him what happened.” No one did, not a single person stepped up to help this crying boy. The boy finally asked the teacher to go use the restroom and the teacher let him. Some students were asked what they thought of when they heard the word, “bullying.” One student said, “It’s a bad thing, they might want to do bad things to their self.” Another student said, “Jerks, people that are bigger than the other person they are bullying.” Another question these students at East Prairie got asked was, what do you think someone does after being bullied? One said, “They might go into depression.” Then someone said, “Do things to their self, cry, become depressed.” Lastly, I asked some students, why do you think people bully others? I got lots of different answers, like; bad home life, family fights, bad mood, jealous of the person they are bullying, and to make there self-feel bigger or better than the other person. All these things are very true, kids should help put a stop to bullying, instead of putting others down and making them feel worthless. Often times, kids feel alone and trapped by bullying and don’t know how to handle or stop it, much like the movie Cyberbully. Where the main character gets bullied for something she didn’t do and later then tried to kill herself and ended up in the hospital. If you see someone crying or in need of help or even one of your friends reaching out to you don’t ignore it and hope it goes away. Put a stop to it right then.
Every single day at least three out of ten teenagers end up with a lower self-esteem that when the day began. About half of the population of the US teenagers have low self-esteem. Most of these teenagers are girls. A lot of these problems are caused by bullying which can cause a low self-esteem, depression, and sometimes death. Most people can’t realize when someone is having problem with this issue. Sometimes people can’t see it because it doesn't always happen at school this can happen anywhere, weather you are having problems at home or even when you are at the park. Some people have trouble with body image or family problems or that very few people know about. This is becoming more of a problem every day.
So it was just another day at the East Prairie Middle School. A lot of student are messing around before class starts. Everyone accept one girl who is very shy, she remains in her seat because she doesn't like to talk to people more popular than her because she is afraid. She is afraid that she will say something that people will make fun of so she keeps to herself. There are many student in the 8th grade that face this problem every day. Some student say this a problem for many of their friends. There are students that also say that that don't know if they are talked about, but there are those student that get a very low self-esteem and get depressed. Some people feel alone like Taylor from in the class room but she’s not. Many teenager feel alone but they’re not.
There are many kids being bullied by other in east prairie middle school. The bullying is going on because popular kids think they're better than other many kids have got in fist fights because people think they are better than they really are. So they push kids or make fun of them. These things need to stop, there are kids hurt them self. The only way to stop this is if kids are nice to each other, not at each other’s trout’s. Why do you think kids are like this? Because the bully's think they are better than others. Can you help make this stop? No. Should these kids stop this madness? Yes they should. Have you been bullied? Yes. Do you know anyone bullied? Yes. Will you help stop this? Yes. Cause this stuff should stop happening.
Recently everyone has been getting bullied for there hair, there clothes, or just something mean. Kids in the office trying to get it all stopped! so many kids are in the office. Not enought time to handle it all its all continuing....... People skipping school so they dont have to hear it anymore it is all getting out of hand. Picture this a kid just sitting there eating his breakfast....she was sitting alone. You can refurer this to the movie Friday Night Lights were this kid trys out for the football team and he has to sit alone on the bench becasue coach never puts him in because he cant catch the ball and he gets made fun of.. then a couple of other girls came over and took her food and threw it on the ground and poured her milk on her. Nobody would help her they all just crouded around her and was laughting at her. This one little girl was her friend and she walked into this happening and she went to the principals office and told the pricipal about what she walked into. They all got in trouble for it and this has always happened at Bement Middle School. Nobody helps them because they think they are going to get bullied to but they dont because when they get in trouble for bullying they ar eprobaby going to stop bulling. Bulling goes on and on faster like rabbit can rap fast on 8 mile........ Just stop and think about what other people can be going through and then bullied on top.. stop being selfish..Lets put an end to bullying!!!
Another lunch room fight. This time it a girl vs. a boy. You guessed it, now see if you were right. At East Prairie, like most middle schools, everyone has who they sit with, or try to be part of. This is just like the movies, or "Mean Girls." Moves don't lie. I ask someone: "What do you think will help solve fight?" She answered: “They should work out their problems peacefully."
Launch is just going how it regularly goes on. Then I asked: “Who do you think the punishment should go to?" "She said it should go to the people who were in the fight."
So some boys decided they were going to too throw a piece of food to someone, and he accidental through it too hard and hit a Girl. Then I ask: “What do think kids should do instead of fighting or start a fight?” She said: “The starter should not of started one.”
This girl has her ups and downs with her peers, just like most teens do.Then I ask:” What do you think causes most lunchroom fight?” She said:”People bullying others."
This girl is only about 2 tables away from the boy. The the girl goes over to the other table with her half drank milk.
Then I ask:”What should you or someone else do to stop the fight,I asked?”She said:”You need to tell a supervisor.
Then, the girl pours her milk on his head. Then the boy through her agents the wall, and the fan almost fell on her. Then, finally the teacher ran over there and said “Hay Hay!”. Wouldn't every teacher do that like Mr. Minger. Then asked:” What do you think the punishment be?” She said detection, but if it really bad an in school suspension.
By this time the kids went to the office and get their punishments. So the school day goes on, and ends like most things like in “Mean Girls.”
Did you know that there used to be an I.A. class at East Prairie? If you didn't ,then you are just like most of the kids who go there. It has been cancelled for four years and does not look like it is going to come back. This class was used to show that kids of all backgrounds that things can be made instead of bought. In this class they also learned how to use machines that are not used in every day life. This was a privilege because many schools do not have I.A. Some think that I.A. is not needed but other people think that it is very beneficial. This is probably no longer here because of either lack of funding or because it is not an academic class. This isn't Boman ,Texas ;but people here also want what used to be here. Mr. Hill , before retiring, had taught a East Prairie for many years. This class has given many kids the feeling of accomplishment because of the hard work the put into their projects. This room is most likely going to be used for storage. Hopefully the students could get a teacher to fight to get I.A. back like Kevin James. The kids at East Prairie are now not going to know of this class.
Making sure your hair looks good, contemplating for an hour on what you will wear, making sure you outfit is PERFECT. These are all issues many teens in 8th grade at East Prairie Middle School face. Problem's with their body image. Lives filled with vanity, low self-esteem, and not feeling "'good enough." Why is this you ask? Well body image might not seem like a big issue. Not until bullying and depression become involved.
Body image plays a huge factor in an 8th grade teen's life at East Prairie. Some people say "not really" when asked if they think it is a big deal. But other's say "I think It's good to feel confident about they way you look. But you shouldn't be too concerned about it." Do you think that people need to realize how big of an issue this is?
Well, one student who goes to East Prairie who has previously dealt with this issue, was asked a few questions concerning body image. When asked if she had experienced bullying because of how she looked, she responded "yes, people do get bullied because of their looks."
An unhealthy anxiety came upon students who were concerned about their body. Some were so insecure and depressed, one would think they might have participated in "America's Top Model" and was then called extremely unattractive. This might not be "The Bachelorette" and students might not be the participants or the bachelorette. But who liked you or not, was almost like a competition.
There is another student who particularly is bullied quite often and was also asked questions concerning the issue. She has been called disrespectful names, has been made fun of, and has just been treated unfairly. Even though she tries to stay positive, she sometimes just feels like crying because people can be so hurtful.
When will this issue end? Why do people feel it is okay to bully people and make them feel bad just because of the way they look? The answers of these questions had been unresolved. But even though people can be rude and mean. It is important to know who you are as an individual and learn to love yourself.
When another student was asked what they think is more important than body image. They responded by saying "their personality."
So, if there is something that students need to realize. It is that people may just judge a book by it's cover. But who you are on the inside, will always matter more than how you look on the outside.
Bulling is an issue a east prairie middle school. Last year a kid got bullied. He got mad and stood up for him self like Tom Brady did to adversity. Bullies are like linebackers to quarter backs. Another time a kid got bullied in the bathroom. One witness says he deserved it. Another said it was horrible to watch. If he would of done something he would have been attacked. Bulling is like a zombie apocalypse if you do something then you get attacked. We ask one of the witnesses multiple questions. Have you ever been bullied he said yes. Have you ever bullied somebody he said sadly yes. How many time have you seen someone get bullied " I've seen It happen lots of times. Why do u think people bully others " I think they do because they want to feel better about themselves. How can bulling be stopped" i think it can be stopped by having more consequence for bullying someone". Torment from other people could lead to suicide or teen cutting
At East Prairie Middle School female teens get stopped in the hallway all the time by teachers. They are told to go change into their PE clothes or to call the parents to bring them a change of clothes because their clothes are not "school appropriate". The young, male teens never get stopped because it's not hard to shop for them. The girls with long arms and legs, who are tall, are hard to shop for because things that'd fit other girls would no longer be "school appropriate" because of their height. We interviewed a couple teams from East Prairie and they argued that's as long as everything is covered it should be allowed. Some of the sport uniforms issued by the school aren't school appropriate. The track shorts are too short, the top is Razorback, and the sides are cut low. Teachers say that it's too distracting if a girl is showing off a little bit legs or shoulders. the teachers and students fight like the bikers and surfers. Just so long as everything is covered it should be allowed. Is it fair that the junior high has to follow the dress code and not the highschool? No, it's not. The students don't get in trouble at the highschool for what they're wearing really, unless it's really bad. The male teens need to be taught manners, respect, and how to keep their hands to them self, instead of the girls being punished for the males disrespectfulness towards what we wear. This struggle has been going in for years and it'll probably go on for years to come.
According to the students at East Prairie Middle School, Kids everyday get bullied some of the ways they get bullied are:by the way they dress,or how their hair looks, or who they hang out with...The list could go on and on.Theirs always that one girl or boy who sits alone, or walks the halls by themselves. But today was different for the girl who sits alone. when someone started bulling. someone else jumped in to give her a hand and be a friend. Now she wont walk the halls or sit by themselves because that one person stood up for someone.
the east prairie students are as mad as Mr. Wilson. the faculty says "phones shouldn't be used its too much of a distraction to students". the students say " what if out parents or family have gotten in on accident how would we find out". the teachers say "that's not all they will use them for". texting friends and playing games are the biggest distraction for kids music has taken over too but whats appropriate or not. The students say that music should be ok if you have head phones what do you think.
